Feng Shui FUN
I had never really grasped it enough to actually apply any of the principals in my own home. Then my dear friend Nina came to visit last week and taught me about it in a really simple easily graspable way! I live in a tiny apt , basically 3 rooms including the bathroom, with each room doing double and even triple duty, so in stead of trying to figure out the feng shui lay out for the apt as a whole, we just went through it by room.
You can use the above the guide (Bagua) by just orienting it so that the bottom of it is the wall where the door you use most often is. The below illustration is my rough sketch of the layout of my office/bedroom.....not the most ideal combination, but i make the most of it, especially now. Feng Shui makes sense if you think of all that exists around you as basically just made of atoms , which we know have both a positive and negative charge, and neutral center. AHH the metaphor of the atom. more on that later.. well, so atoms are just energy forms, so everything is just energy right, from the desk to the tree to our bodies and back again. well it makes sense then that all the energy in all these forms around us would be affecting us all the time, and mostly on a subconscious level. There's simply too much to pay attention to to really notice( be conscious of) how the placement of the desk is affecting you. Until you realize how important and easy it is to actually start paying attention. Additionally, the act of having an intention to change things, then placing visual reminders of that intention also plays into the effectiveness of this.
Well, since i can't move a whole lot around since i'm working with an extremely tight space, i focused mainly on adding appropriate imagery to the specific corners and walls. For example, When Nina first came she noticed right away that the only thing i had in my Love corner was a picture of a Rollerskating Parrot named Tonto ( meaning "dumb") and that my prosperity corner was completely empty. I easily fixed this by finally hang up some Gold frames i had sitting around ,and some imagery i also had in my possession. As you can see in my below pics, it looks pretty sweet right! Nina says pairs of things are good for the Love corner , and she approved of my fruitful apples in my prosperity corner. Apples also remind me of the Torus i mentioned in a previous post, which i hope to write about soon in more depth. Anyway, that frame could use more pumping up, but the apples are a good start. And i did make that corner pretty fab by covering my closet door with these Chinese good luck papers from my Grandma Alice's paper collection. The apples don't fall far from the tree, I'm definately keeping up the paper hoarding gene. By the way, if anyone knows more about those Chinese papers, i'm curious about them.
Also my desk was facing the wall which is a big no no because the energy coming out of the door behind me was just coming and hitting me in the back, and i never liked facing the corner and wall all day either. You can see in my pics how i moved my desk out from the wall and now sit behind it, which makes me feel sooo much better. Like a real CEO, i'm telling you. Also notice the lit up heart on the wall, thats right in my fame corner baby, yeah!!
Anyhow, I've also been pumping up my Travel and Helpful People corner with maps and pictures of places i want to go, as well as just writing down names of places i want to go and people that i want to help me on a big piece of paper i put in the frame of my bathroom door( in the same corner) . I've done most in my Main room, but also been working on my kitchen/dining room/guest room. Its been really easy and fun and I definately feel a shift in how the energy is flowing in and around me as i occupy the space.
Thers more we changed, like i now cover my big mirror before bed, because mirrors facing beds arent a good idea energetically( who knew!) as well as keeping all the doors to the room shut so that the energy isnt flowing at my head weird because of the particular way that this space is layed out.
Well, thats my 2 cents on that topic. I look fwd to learning more about this ancient art/science, and also will continue to add to changes i've started.

I just had a feng shui expert come to my house and it's been so much fun. I agree with you in that you immediately feel different in your space. I have a lot to do, but already I'm sleeping better (shutting the doors to the bedroom) and the apartment feels "lighter."
Thanks for the post!
